Hi, I’m Krista. I have been the Administrator of the agency for 2 years and have worked with Public Health since 1998. My previous work experience includes long term care facility and hospital nursing. I have my Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from Luther College. I continue to see some clients in their homes but much of my time is spent reviewing policies and procedures, attending meetings, writing letters to legislators, reporting to the Board of Health and doing things to help make the agency run smoothly. I assist with Communicable Disease investigations and immunizations as necessary. I am also a Certified Child Passenger Technician which means I check the car seats of infants and children. The entire staff of Winneshiek County Public Health is great to work with and all are excellent caregivers. Your health concerns become our concerns and we strive to provide you with the very best home health care.

My name is Julie and I have been with the Public Health Department since August of 2002. My main focus is providing in home nursing visits. I work closely with the area schools in Winneshiek County to provide health education to their students and staff. My other duties include being a Team Leader for the Outcome Based Quality Improvement initiative for our agency, SIDS education, and Community Prescription Assistance Service. My work experience includes a long term care facility and hospital. Public Health allows me the opportunity to serve a variety of individuals in all age groups.

Hi, my name is Karen. I have been at Public Health since September, 1988. Before that I worked at a local hospital, 10 years in surgery and 2 years on the medical/surgical floors. I currently assist with CPR training, home visits, and immunization clinics. I enjoy working with the clients.

Hello, my name is Penny. I am a Registered Nurse and have worked part time for Winneshiek County Public Health since 1988. Prior to coming to Decorah, I had clinical experience in intensive care, school nursing, pediatrics, maternity nursing, nursing administration, and nursing education. As a Public Health Nurse, I have worked with pregnant moms and new babies, maternal-child clinics, and several other areas. Currently, I assist with projects and special events at the agency and serve as public health consultant. In addition, I teach in the nursing program at Luther College and supervise nursing students while they complete clinical experiences at the agency several mornings a week.

Hi, my name is Cheryl. I have worked as a Registered Nurse with Public Health since October, 2001. My primary function as a staff nurse is to provide skilled nursing services to clients in their homes. I assist with a Happy Feet Clinic for the community at our office and help with flu clinics. I represent nursing on the Physical Therapy Board at Winneshiek Medical Center and have been a volunteer for the American Red Cross. I provide nursing supervision and auditing for a local agency that provides services for the mentally and physically challenged. I have work experience as a hospital staff nurse, and in a skilled nursing home as a staff nurse, supervisor, restorative and with staff development.

Hi, my name is Brett. I have worked with Winneshiek County Public Health Nursing Service since October, 2000, making home visits as well as managing the Radon information. I have ten years experience working in substance abuse treatment. I have also worked in Nursing Home settings as well as hospital experience. Public Health is a critical link in our healthcare system. Advocating proactive aspects of health management helps avoid having problems later.

Hello, my name is Karla and I am one of the Public Health Nurses. Before coming to Winneshiek County Public Health, I worked as a staff nurse in a hospital setting. I have worked as a Registered Nurse for Winneshiek County Public Health since January, 2000 and have really enjoyed the tasks I do. My main focus at Public Health is home visits. It is such a privilege to be able to come into the individual’s homes and help them stay there so they don’t have to go to a long term care facility. I also occasionally help out with Happy Feet clinics and immunizations as needed. I am the coordinator for our agency for the Frail Elderly Program for Winneshiek County, which is a case management for Winneshiek County that Northland Agency on Aging heads up. I also am one of the Team Leaders for Outcome Based Quality Improvement for our agency. I am proud to be part of such a great team.

Hi, my name is Selina. I have been one of the Public Health nurses since October of 2003. My main focus at the agency is home visits. I also work with EPSDT (Early Periodic Screening, Diagnosis & Treatment) for children on the Medicaid program. Prior to my employment at Public Health, I worked in a skilled nursing facility. My emphasis in nursing has been geriatrics. However, public health has allowed me the opportunity to work with individuals in all age groups. I really enjoy meeting new people and getting to know them. This job has allowed for that to continue.

Hello, I’m Nancy. I have been a public health nurse for Winneshiek County since 1985. I am involved in provision of home care services to county residents. Currently, I serve as assistant administrator of the agency. I also am the Bio-Emergency Coordinator, working to improve the public health response in the event of an emergency. I advocate the importance of prevention and promotion of healthy lifestyles through educational programs by doing monthly radio interviews. I also am a basic life support instructor for CPR for our agency. I do a lot of volunteer activities, such as Red Cross, 4H leader, working with Decorah Free Clinic and church committees.

Hello, I’m Eunice, R.N. I started working for Winneshiek County Public Health in April 1990, a year after obtaining my nursing degree from Luther College. I enjoy working closely with clients in their homes, providing services that help them stay in their homes. Currently, I serve as Home Care Aide Supervisor and Case Manager for our agency, and as coordinator for the Happy Feet Clinic program. I also assist with skilled visits as needed. I’m very proud to be a part of the team here at Public Health.
