Winneshiek County Public Health now offers several adult vaccines–shingles, pneumonia, and RSV.  Simply give us a call to be scheduled…we’ll collect your insurance information and see if you owe a copay when you come in.  Many insurances, including Medicare offer some coverage for these important adult vaccines.

Shingles:  recommended for those over 50.  It is a 2-dose series, now and then 2-6 months after the first dose.  This vaccine helps to prevent you from developing shingles which can be a very painful illness.

Pneumonia:  This is for those over 65 (only need it once) and for younger than 65 with chronic conditions.  Pneumonia is a respiratory disease that can cause difficulty breathing.

RSV:  recommended for those over age 65 with certain health conditions and for everyone over 75 years of age.  Current recommendation is to receive it once. RSV is a respiratory illness that can cause difficulty breathing and may develop into pneumonia.

Take the time to get vaccinated before the holidays!
