Winneshiek County Public Health Nursing Services provides skilled nursing care to individuals in the privacy of their own homes or apartments, who qualify for service. Clients may currently live in their homes or be returning home from a hospitalization or from the nursing home. Nurses can provide a variety of services which may be for a short period of time or long term. These services may include: Medication management, dressing changes, treatments, blood work, care management, and health and diet teaching. Physicians orders will direct the nurse to provide services. The nursing assessment of the client in the home will determine if the client is safe and what services are appropriate. Nurses work closely with physicians, the client and family. Nurses will guide and counsel clients and family if there are any changes that need to be addressed.
Care may include establishing assistance from our Home Care Aides with personal cares, exercise and light house work.
We have a nurse on call after work hours, on weekends and holidays.
Our goal is to enable clients to remain safely in their homes as long as possible.
