Public Health is all about preventing disease, diagnosing health conditions and encouraging health and well-being.  Achieving these goals is only possible with the help of new tools and innovations.

What can you do?  You can use health apps and wear smartwatches.  Adults need 150 minutes each week of moderate intensity physical activity.  Apps and smartwatches can help track your progress!  You can also advocate for vaccinations and widely available testing and for increased access to telehealth services.  Testing and vaccine technology have expanded and it’s now easier to detect, prevent and protect us from more diseases.  Rural residents are more likely to die prematurely from conditions such as heart disease and cancer.  Telehealth is the process of receiving health care via video chat, phone call or messaging and it’s a great option for those of us living in rural areas.  Limited access to health care providers and transportation are often obstacles in preventing people from receiving care.
