So far this year, there have been about 500 cases of dengue fever in the United States.
Symptoms include fever, rashes, nausea, and joint pain. More severe cases could include internal bleeding, which can be deadly.
U.S. health officials say anyone with severe symptoms should get help immediately.
The CDC recommends anyone traveling to areas at risk for dengue to use insect repellent, wear long pants and long-sleeve shirts outdoors, and sleep in a room with air conditioning or mosquito screens.
